Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE

Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE  is the largest solar energy research institute in Europe. The work at the Institute ranges from the investigation of scientific and technological fundamentals for solar energy applications.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE conducts research on the technology needed to supply energy efficiently and on an environmentally sound basis in industrialised, threshold and developing countries. To this purpose, the Institute develops systems, components, materials and processes in the areas of the thermal use of solar energy, solar building, solar cells, electrical power supplies, chemical energy conversion, energy storage and the rational use of energy.

Contribution to NETfficient:

Fraunhofer ISE will contribute to the architecture and concept design, integration of local energy storage systems, and the demonstration and validation of NETfficient.

Fraunhofer ISE will model the existing grid and analyze load profile measurements to identify ideal integration nodes for energy storages.

Furthermore, an inverter for hybrid energy storage systems optimized for high efficiency, smart energy management and sophisticated grid stabilization features will be designed and implemented.
