Demonstration Site
In the images you can see the "Nordsee Aquarium Borkum" on the Island of Borkum (Germany) that will be the demonstration site of NETfficient project's Use Case 5: Aquarium Water Temperature Regulation.Since the 1970ies, "Nordsee Aquarium Borkum" shows visitors the habitats and biodiversity of the North Sea. It was recently modernised and now offers many different areas and thematic fields, such as "origins of the North Sea", and a broad variety of fish tanks.
NETfficient Use Case 5 will demonstrate how the energy needed to maintain all these fish tanks at the intended constant temperature of 12-14°C is provided by PV energy. By the help of thermal energy storage, this green PV energy may be used, even if there is no PV production at the very moment of need.
